Will We Go Gently Into That Good Night?
American Thinker ^ | 23 Mar, 2023 | Allan J. Feifer

The most challenging pieces I author address overwhelming topics, or verbalize what many of us are thinking yet fail to say; obviously, “blackpilling” isn’t the goal, and the threat of violence from lowbrow political mobs is a serious concern. Apparently, I’m not the only one: each year, I read thousands of well-considered articles, blogs, and emails presented by frightened, angry, or resigned individuals. They believe the America we knew is gone, never to return. I speak to many more who express much the same sentiment. We commiserate with each other. We talk tactics, candidates, and ideas, and refer to historical moments that comfort us. But, in the end, many of us feel we are lying to ourselves. Free elections, an educated public, patriotism, and a clear-eyed view of history are now an illusion, or simply a spasmodic recollection of how things used to be.

The reality is that we are close to “checkmate”...but not there yet.

These are dangerous times for thinkers and people of conscience. There are crazies everywhere! Recently, federal judge Kyle Duncan was escorted off the stage by marshals at Stanford University because a mob prevented him from engaging with the school’s Federalist Society Club. Also shocking is the backstory from the Dean of Diversity, Jenny Martinez; Stanford’s president forced Martinez to apologize to Duncan, as she was the voice of the mob, shouting him down and lecturing him on his lack of Wokeness. In response to her apology, her class was vandalized by fellow wokesters. From the New York Post:

At the end of her class, all but a handful of Martinez’s class of 60 stood and stared at her silently to suggest they were also being silenced[.]

It is worth noting that Dean Martinez will not face any disciplinary action...

I expect attempts to force DEI into every aspect of life as the way leftists will try to implement marxism.

Yeah, I was on a certain website last night and someone brought up how great the 90s were. Compared to today, you actually seemed to have a thrill for life - now it all seems very artificial.

Sadly, the left’s moralism seems even more artificial. They know they’re lying and that what they’re espousing is false, but they refuse to admit it and get irate when its mentioned. Everyone knows that weak men are exploiting transgenderism because they’re looking for approval. America is farther along in race relations than any other country in the world, yet they demand we acknowledge that we haven’t left the Puritanical ages. It’s really sad because the left of this country will eat themselves and try to consume us too.

I think you’re just going to see red states coalesce more and become more vituperative against outsiders. The sanctimony of the left will continue until they find they need the right, but by then it will be too late for them.

Of one tenth of the people concerned about this would become active, it would be over.
The traditional non involvement by conservatives is killing us.

As for the left, they are not good people. Don’t think for a second that your communist neighbor is anything but a complete jerk set on dismantling society.

We’re already there with the implementation ofMarxism. It’s like the frog being boiled or a wart growing on you. In a way it’s like Rip Van Winkle except that people aren’t “woke “ they’re still fast asleep in a dystopian nightmare.

Thank you. I just did. Otherwise known as denunciation rallies, in Maoist China.

One article was from the WSJ, and the title was “Get Ready for the Struggle Sessions.”

It was from 2019.

Couldn’t read the whole thing, because of the pay wall.

Define “active”. It has been my observation that voting is useless.

"I expect attempts to force DEI into every aspect of life."

I believe DEI is nothing more then a weapon. Once our enemy, who every that may be, gains total control, they will show the world what real racism looks like... :(

What “involvement” would you suggest?

Most Americans are fairly sensible, but they are not heard from in the primaries so much, because around 45% are registered as Independents.

In order to stop polarizing in the primary so badly that you have less of a chance in the general election, with a majority center right electorate btw (in 2021, according to Gallup), the key would seem to be to get the Independents off the fence. The larger the party base, the less chance that it will be swayed by unpopular factional causes, and the better the chance that it will win in the general election.

get the Independents off the fence.

Never happen. After 45+ years of voting the Gelded Old Party I am now independent. I will never go back to the eGOP. Why would I? Over that 45 years, I have only voted twice FOR the GOP, Reagan/Trump. Every other vote was against a rat. spit
