It’s 90 percent chance of showing reactivity to a given subject but not necessarily deception if not corroborated with any other external evidence or statements; then it’s just as reliable for court purposes as a polygraph.
Patien’s with schizo affective illnesses or bipolar illness are not going to score well with these tests.
Court cases will be interesting if they try to push this stuff into the legal realm. One can’t be coerced into incriminating oneself and forced submission to these tests could be judged as anti-constitutional under the 5th amendment.
Sure...a blanket description of “deception” is probably the wrong word. I believe the tests were along the lines of “do you recognize this person”, where an incorrect answer of “no” was correctly detected. Again, this is different than, “have you seen this photo before” - as it may have already been seen.
