Yup—the manosphere teaches that women are generally social creatures who can be fooled by social “cues”. They are particularly vulnerable to the opinion of their “friends” or peers—so it is not good enough for a woman to be attracted to you, her friends must be as well. Lots of women are into "status", of having the guy that all their friends would want.
The danger for the woman is that her "friends" WILL hit on her guy behind her back. It got tiresome for me.

Speaking as a Medicare-aged guy married to a woman not much younger, her pitching still works, as well as being enjoyable company the rest of the time.
