Ah, the infamous “Domino theory”
We lost in Vietnam and yet communism, aside from Cambodia, didn’t over take the South Pacific.
After the Soviet Union fell apart, US made promises that it wouldn’t advance NATO to Russia’s border in exchange for allowing an uncontested unification of Germany.
What happened? Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic became NATO members with the Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia in 2004.
It’s the Domino theroy in reverse and any Russian leader wouldn’t be happy with this situation, replacing Putin probably wouldn’t bulge the pointer in either direction.
And just how does it ended “once and for all”? Ukraine is bleeding white(so are the Russians) This has devolved into the static trench warfare of WWI. A few tanks on either probably won’t have the desired breakout the Ukes nor Rooskies envision. Both are low on artillery rounds and the ability to quickly ramp up production before the rumoured spring offensive.
As I posted last year before I became more knowledgeable about the antagonists, it will boil down who wants the territory the most and willing to expend blood and treasure to secure it. For how long is another question.
The domino theory wasn't disproven it is because we stopped it by defending these countries who would of fallen under Russian orbits I do not want to go back to another cold war or worse. I want to prevent that and aiding Ukraine is the best way of doing that. Let us again prevent another domino theory from happening.
