Read the article!
I didn’t see anything about a “women’s studies” degree.
Also, the money was willed to her by her aunt. The parents were custodians not owners of the asset. The parents stole it pure and simple!
I’m guessing Pakistani immigrants
“Culture Doesn’t Value Education for Women”
“Aunt married ‘a British Man’ and moved to America”
“Money was needed for son’s wedding.”
All VERY Muslim/South Asian stuff.
Thanks, I did. I still maintain that marriage is more important than a college education.
“In trust” is different than “in a trust”.
If the Aunt intended for the funds to be exclusively used for her education, she could have set it up that way. Sounds like she just left the money to the parents to pay for school. The Aunt is the villain here, possibly unknowingly, but still failed.
Ironically, America is a matriarchy. Good luck on getting married and raising children nowadays. You'll get screwed in the divorce court. That said, yes, the POTUS is a man but that's only because women would rather vote for someone like Joe Biden than Hillary Clinton.
Where does it say she pursued a women’s studies degree?
Even if she did, so what?
Her life, her money, her choice.
Parents and brother are thieves.
No it was not their money, it was inheritance from her deceased Great Aunt specifically for her to go to college which the parents pilfered.
“specifically for her to go to college”, is a big assumption.
Maybe you should understand the concept of ownership. Either they had jurisdiction or they didn’t, and they obviously did.
Hence, we see so-called ‘conservatives’ not understand who owns what in this world.
From the post/article:"OP's Great Aunt thought that was a bunch of malarkey so she made sure to leave behind a ton of money for various female relatives so they could use it to go to school."
Doesn't seem like it is much of an assumption, but was rather clearly stated...
i think the parents are dead wrong- i hope their baby boy has to take care of them in their old age.
it was the girls inheritance. Parents stole from her.
Doesn’t seem like it is much of an assumption, but was rather clearly stated...
What is the most likely source of that statement? The daughter, the writer.
Do you see a problem in your reading skills?
EVERY ARTICLE HAS AN AGENDA. What is the agenda of this article?
What is the source of the article?
DISTRACTIFY
Now there is a powerful information source.
“So, it is their money. Your morals suck since you think children should dictate what parents do with their own money.”

Code Toad,
I really do hope that you are not a teacher to any child, not in control of any child’s monies, not in the Legal, Telecommunications, or Therapy Communities.
Based upon you posting, you can not read nor comprehend the written word; at least, not in the current language we are corresponding upon this particular site.
She was left this money in a legal and binding manner. Her parents simply had access to the money.
A very, very, different meaning. You really should look up the two differences.
As for ethics.....ugh....
Please see my post to the cretin....
I do not think he OR she, misread or did not read the article.
Rather, that is his or her personal belief system.
Terribly lacking.
The woman who left the young women the money legally didn’t trust the family at all, hence the Will instructions. So very good upon her part.
Your comprehension needs work. Her Great Aunt left her the money to be used for school. She did so because she knew education for females was not a priority in their culture. The parents stole that money. If in the past the girl allowed parents some access under specific circumstances does not amount to a blanket permission to use it as they saw fit.
You make a lot of assumptions.
Your comprehension needs work.
Which, as a former accountant I can assure you is a totally different thing.
I had access to millions of dollars, could write check for up to $10,000 without countersign, but it was in no ways mine.
