I don’t like a lot of the jarred pickled artichoke hearts, (most use garlic, and i am allergic to that- but they have other ingredients that cestroy the f,avor too) but the one that was charred on the Grill had just the right ingredients and char flavor or somehting. Wish I could remember the name of company.

The first time that I ate artichokes (that I can recall) is when my family was on one of our epic summer vacations where we drove in our station wagon from Florida to Alaska, and tent camped there and back. On the way back from Alaska, Dad drove down the Pacific coast. We often stopped at roadside stands buying whatever fresh produce was available. Mom had found several artichokes at one stand when we got to California. They eventually found a picnic table in the middle of nowhere but on a sandy, rocky beach. We had sandwiches and also artichokes that were steamed and dipped in melted butter. I was ten. It was windy as all get out, so there was some sand in with the artichoke leaves. That part I didn’t like, but I do love artichokes now! They are a real treat, especially when you’re visiting near where they’re grown.

Not a big fan of artichoke dip, but I'll eat it in a pinch. Especially if it's hot out of the oven. Now, if those were chunks of crabmeat...yum.

Albertson’s is a grocery store chain that started in Boise, Idaho. Way back 30+ years ago, there was a tour train that would drive around Boise and show the sights. The guide would also tell lame jokes. One of them was about an inept hit man named Artie. Artie took a job from a husband who wanted to get rid of his cheating spouse. Because Artie was so bad at his job, he only charged $1 per hit. Well, old Artie follows his intended victim into the local grocery store and chokes her to death. He’s seen by two other witnesses and he chokes both of them to death. On his way out of the store, he’s arrested by the police a carted off to jail. The headlines in the paper read “Artie chokes three for a dollar at Albertson’s.”
