The Bogart/Astor/Greenstreet/Lorre/Cook version is the SECOND remake and the THIRD ( there is a fourth as well ), version of THE MALTESE FALCON and THE best of the lot.

The first remake stars Bette Davis and the story is somewhat different from the other films.

I like the Satan Met a Lady version, and the first version was pre-code, so they get away with more lurid and sexual material, and they come out and mention the homosexuality.
