Winning an Oscar is a big deal for many reasons, but most important, your name will now have the words Academy Award winner before it in every trailer you appear in for the rest of your life. So that’s nice. Plus you get a really cool gold paperweight and/or bathroom décor. This year, a whole new crop of actors, producers, editors, screenwriters, designers, and more earned their special pre-fixes at the 95th Academy Awards. I 'm glad the guy won from Everything Everywhere All at Once But frankly I found the film incomprehensible.

I thought Cate Blanchett was great. Guess they didn't want to give her a third award.

They got away from all the “wokeness-awareness” weirdness for the awards ceremony? It would seem that way from the calmness of the headlines.

“YOU DON’T HAVE TO POST IF YOU DON’T CARE”

Nonsense, they have to post to let everyone else know how much they don’t care.

"Everything Everywhere All At Once" is right up there with "Parasite", and was given 7 Oscars for the same reasons.

The Academy Awards are a joke.

I thoroughly enjoyed Brendan Fraser in The Whale. A well deserved Academy Award for a genuinely good guy.

Of course, I did not watch the ceremony, as I have zero interest in listening to Jimmy Kimmel spew liberal bullshit every time he opened his pie-hole.

RE: anybody see Everything, Everywhere? I am intrigued.

I saw the movie. It was a little disorienting and confusing because of the “multiverse”, alternate reality theme.

If you enjoyed the Marvel Dr. Strange and Avengers series, then definitely, you’ll enjoy this.

RE: I did not watch the ceremony, as I have zero interest in listening to Jimmy Kimmel spew liberal bullshit every time he opened his pie-hole.

He was actually quite tame yesterday, keeping politics to a minimum. He even added a subtle dig at Joe and Hunter Biden.

Even his jokes about last year’s “SLAP” by Will Smith was quite funny and tasteful.

Over all, I think yesterday’s show, although quite long and should have been cut by about half an hour, is a slow return to the traditional Oscars people use to watch about 30 years ago.

I personally preferred ALL’s QUITE ON THE WESTERN FRONT.

It won 4 Oscars, but not the major ones.

Not the adjective I would have chosen 🙃

Seriously, let's think like the type of people who inhabit AMPAS (the Oscar people). You have to try to overcome the aftermath of the POC violent incident from the previous year, but simultaneously build upon your everythingbutconservativewhitesupremacist cred (meaning Top Gun doesn't have a chance). So you pick the one film that will emphasize an Asian cast--a group of people who have been getting the Oscar shaft over the years--and that way no one can question your DEI, while at the same time not having to worry about another POC incident.
