WikiLeaks says Samsung smart TVs were hacked to enable spying on consumers.
In a trove of documents released Tuesday, WikiLeaks included code that it says shows the CIA worked with U.K. intelligence officials to turn microphones in TVs into listening devices.

So? If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear.
“Weeping Angel!” Aren’t they cute. They knew exactly what they were doing.
Trump was working to implement America First.
The Deep State and their Rat toadies are implementing Amerika First Order
Our Amazon remote has a voice command button to enter a
search for a tv show.
If those voice commands are monitored, monitoring our voice commands would be a dangerous job. Those monitoring our voice commands might die from severe boredom.
And yet you believe, and transmit here on FR, all their propaganda about Ukraine
Weird.
This is why I’m glad I still have my 30 year old RCA tv.
“Weird.”
What is ‘weird’ is you believe that ?!?!
“This is why I’m glad I still have my 30 year old RCA tv.”
You are Blessed. But, remember they hack your pc & phone as well.
tape/microphone
“TV appears to be off when it is actually on”
digital tv’s are NEVER off, just the screen...
I am convinced this is happening.. Your, TV, Phone, Alexa and everything else that has voice recognition/ activation is listening and recording 100% of the time.
It will only be once Police/ LE/ Lawyers sue and get these recordings into court and sucessfully charge people that it will become common knowledge and then “ we have ALWAYS done this and nobody EVER had a problem”
And then the flood gates will open.
Yup. I know. When I want a quiet walk, I just leave my phone at home, and I keep electrical tape on the camera lens of my computer.
Spying on me huh? Well good, now they can hear me when I yell expletives at them through the TV. ESAD assholes!
Alexa was the true tell—it was a poster here a while back who asked the silly question:
“How does Alexa know when you say ‘Alexa’”.
At that moment I “got it”.
Blast from the past circa 2018.
Vault 7 !
Does anybody else remember that incident where a tampered icon of an album cover was broadcast on a FM radio station side-channel? Such images are commonly used with newer car radios and display on the audio console when the music is playing.
This image apparently contained a code sequence that subverted the CPU of the radio controller and caused various malfunctions. One of them was to lock the radio on an NPR channel at maximum volume. A "harmless prank". Yes, there was a quiet recall of the affected vehicles for a software update.
The described hack was a stupid vulnerability of an image display method which had been fixed in most Windows and Linux systems years ago. It should never have been present in a real-time control system for any part of an automobile.
It had to have taken considerable technical resources to find that vulnerability, and a wide-ranging organization to deploy the trigger. Could have been commercial rivals or a government agency. It was not a lone hacker. Probably a faction sending a threat message to another faction.
GM added that it knew of no injuries or death resulting from the hacking of a vehicle.
The hack in the last publicly disclosed incident did not affect a GM vehicle. So how would they know? And if they did, they would be very anxious to conceal such an occurrence. They would probably lie to protect themselves.
Vehicle control systems have been hacked by remote methods already. There probably are several more ways to do that which have not yet been blocked.
A hack that when triggered will race the engine, disable the brakes and power steering? Sounds like a perfect assasination tool.
They named it after a species of monsters from “Dr. Who”. The Weeping Angels look like statues, but when you are not looking at them, they move.
“digital tv’s are NEVER off, just the screen...”
They are if you plug them into a power strip and turn the power off when you’re not using it ;)
“If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear.”
Seriously????? We have the fear of losing our freedoms. They have NO RIGHT to do this, even if we’re just discussing meatloaf recipes.
