A Southwest flight was diverted from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, leaving passengers stranded with no information or food in a closed Myrtle Beach airport overnight — along with a full plane of fellow travelers.
The 9-hour ordeal involving Southwest flight 3094 included three passengers vomiting as the plane shook “like crazy,” recounted one North Carolina couple on board. Another person, the couple said, had a panic attack and passed out on the plane amid its wild approach into Raleigh — which was aborted at the last second at 1,350 feet, according to flight data.
“It was quite a horrifying experience. We go to land in Raleigh and the plane starts shaking like crazy. Then they decide to tell us 15 minutes later we are going to Myrtle Beach,” said Nicholas Reed, who was traveling with his girlfriend Krys Spence.

Buncha wussies.
“...aborted at the last second at 1,350 feet...”
Alrighty, then. /s
Global warming creating turbulence. Bet on it.
Maybe the flight should have been canceled?
Kings. Champions of men.
What was going on Friday?
Coworker was trying to fly into that same airport, and it was delayed for 40 hours.
They need to fly in a C-130 through a line of monsoon thunderstorms to see what can get really exciting.

Surveyed Elevation of Raleigh-Durham is 435 feet MSL. Not quite “last second”.
Or land on an aircraft carrier, once.
Lower standards and you get planes that are not well-maintained and pilots who are not qualified to fly under less than ideal situations, or who are not able to handle emergencies. Require vaccinations for all pilots and you also get a shortage of healthy pilots who are cleared to fly a plane.
I don’t think you could pay me to get on an airplane these days.
With all of the snowflakes these days, medium chop is an inevitable plane crash to those people. As a pilot, it finally makes the flight interesting. It’s funny when the women start screaming. Funnier when the beta men do.
Been there, done that. Many times out of Davis-Monthan AFB as electronic weapons system crew in the back.
The worst I ever felt in any aircraft was doing a bunch of touch-and-goes in the summer for the flight crew to get their training in. 110 degrees on the ground Even hotter in the aircraft.
The only time I barfed (there are two kinds of people who fly, those who have barfed, and those who will) was when we were flying straight and steady with a bit of up and down wave motion. Felt it coming, finished the flight with no issues. Don't get seasick, either.
What are you talking about? Conditions were too bad to land, so they had to divert. I’ve had that happen before. Not everything is part of a grand conspiracy.
We had some good chop coming down into Las Vegas today. Usually always some turbulence coming into Vegas but this was worse than usual.
They must have had the fish.
Great landing: a landing you can walk away from and re-use the aircraft
Buckle up, buttercups
It was going to be a very quick decent.
I remember, I had the lasagna.
The storms that came through produced winds of 30 to 35 mph. Here just south of Nashville we have trees down and lots of roof damage.
