“Write it. Shoot it. Publish it. Crochet it, Sauté it, whatever. MAKE.” ~ Joss Whedon
The Monthly Create, Make and Share Thread is a monthly gathering of people that love to create and make. From yarn (crochet, knitting), fabric (sewing, quilting), threads (embroidery, weaving), wood crafts, ceramics, artwork and anything else you create and would like to share, this is the place to do it. Sharing something you’ve created and/or made is pure joy...and we need joy in our lives!
From complete Newbies that are looking to start that first project, to experienced artists, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions or would like advice, there’s probably someone on the thread who would be able to help.
It is impossible to hijack the Monthly Create, Make and Share Thread. Knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting, weaving, general crafting, art, wood working, patterns, articles on any of these topics, or even your own writing. There is no telling where it will go, and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you’d like to be added to our Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a Month Ping List. We DO post to the thread during the month. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to other Create, Make and Share fans are welcomed any time.
I’m knitting a diagonal scrap blanket out of all my random balls of yarn. 2 strands of no bigger than worsted weight yarn, size 11 needles. I haven’t used the same color twice.... Finished size will be about 5x7 feet. I’m on the last 30 rows and it’s hard to move. I’m giving it to my daughter for her 40th birthday. What a good feeling to be able to get rid of a good chunk of scrap!
I just found a similar scrap pattern (crochet) at Bev’s Country Cottage . com and I’m planning on doing the same. I was given a HUGE stash of yarn from a friend of my Mom’s and it may take me the rest of my life, but I’ll use it all up in some manner.
It’s kind of fun, actually. I like the planning part of the project the best, though, LOL!
I get stashes of yarn from people too. This blanket weights 4 pounds. Not a bad stash buster!
Pretty. Is that just made with your basic 4 worsted yarn? Or is it cotton for an area rug? If it’s acrylic, how well does it wear and wash up?
It’s 2 strands of mostly 4 ply acrylic, some dk and baby, maybe there’s a cotton blend in there. Most of the yarn is super saver, red heart, hobby lobby, caron, lion brand, unknown balls I figure are acrylic, etc. I tried to keep the thickness similar, I made an acrylic smaller one for our dog 2-3 years ago, got rid of the bulky and eyelash junk, some really ugly stuff. She’s sleeps with it all the time. It’s been in the washer and dryer many times and holding up great. I try to stay away from bulky, it makes my hands ache.
Here’s the pattern, super easy.
