There is absolutely no reason to assume that an interstellar civilization wouldn’t still want slaves. This assumption that such a civilization must be benevolent is a mere assertion. Are modern Earth nations with all their gadgets benevolent? Hardly. Best to keep quiet.

We'll make great pets.

Quite possibly an interstellar civilization might not even be aware of us - any more than we might be aware of ant colonies in a distant field.

As long as the field is not on the route for construction of a new interstellar highway, we will be just fine.
