Elon Musk has regained his spot as the world's richest man, unseating LVMH's Bernard Arnault who briefly assumed the position this year after Tesla's stock had taken a beating along with Musk's net worth.
Bezos, Gates, and Buffett aren't even close...
Thanks to a 5.5% surge in TSLA stock today, 51-year-old Musk's net worth jumped to $187.1billion...
...while 75-year-old Arnault has seen his net worth drift slightly lower in the last week or so (after LVMH's strong gains early on), back to only $185.3...
Tesla has recovered to a $650bn market cap (up $315 billion in market cap year-to-date)...
Tesla’s gains this year (+92% YTD) have far outpaced the rally in the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index, which is up about 10% in 2023, and crushed LVMH's return year-to-date (+14% YTD)...
Musk's fortune peaked at $340 billion on Nov. 4, 2021... so he is probably still feeling somewhat poorer.
The poor left is screaming into their pillows that acquiring Twitter hasn’t hurt him at all.
Good. Now buy Google and Facebook, Elon.
That much stock money is not exactly real money.
But he did sell a good number of shares before the tank, so it would be fascinating to see his bank account.
I had a chance to drive by the Tesla factory in Austin this weekend, it’s very impressive, I must say. I’d love to take a tour there.
Please tell me why this is even important.
It’s probably Putin.
He said on a podcast that most of his net worth is locked up in his companies, so he might only have a few million liquid assets. He also said that he could take his income tax forms to H&R Block to have done if he wanted to.
His wealth isn’t complicated when compared to other rich people.
This is BS. The Saudi royal families alone have far more wealth than these people combined do.
Oh good. I was worried about him.
Wait a year and pickup Facebook for pocket change.
You could also add up the Google people.
But this is supposedly about individuals.
Anyway, Saudi and other places are nominally about state assets, even if it is understood that these assets are under personal control of the monarch.
Good for Elon...
Wild swings when you're the world's richest man! Hey Elon, old buddy, old buddy, old pal... send me a bil... you won't even miss it.
