The daughter [Fawn Weaver] of the Motown musician Frank Wilson, Weaver started her first business, in special events and public relations, at the age of 18. She also published two books about marriage in 2014 and 2015.
As an author, Weaver was intrigued by a 2016 New York Times story about a man named Nathan Green, or "Uncle Nearest," who was the first known African American master distiller. The story said Jack Daniel's was finally embracing Green's role as a former slave who taught the company's founder the craft.

That year, Weaver visited the farm in Tennessee where Green made his whiskey and learned that the property had been on the market for 15 months. So she decided to buy it for an undisclosed amount.
Her four-day trip turned into a 12-month research project. She partnered with more than 20 historians and researchers to confirm more of Green's history, including that he was the first master distiller for the Jack Daniel's distillery.
"This white boy grows up learning from this African American man, and when he gets old enough to own his own business, then asks for his mentor to be his top dog," she said.
"Race didn't really play into it from all of the research that we've done at this point," she added. "It's very, very clear that this was one of the first cases we've ever seen of allyship."
As her business began with a story, so it continued. In 2017, Weaver opened the Nearest Green Distillery and launched Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, making storytelling the foundation of her brand's success.

How long till it’s called Uncle Tom Nearest Premium Whiskey by blacks.
One of their primary ways of doing this is to (1) create a race war by convincing some people (blacks) that they are being victimized by whites and therefore should hate whites, (2) convince white people that black people were being taught to hate them (and they are), and (3) convince everyone (black and white) to think negatively about each other and the country.
This does not mean that we need to abandon critical thinking (i.e., we need to be careful because some people do now hate us), but we do need to realize that we are being manipulated by the Marxists among us and not fall into their trap.
You might be dumb if you do not see blatant racism in the media.
That was totally uncalled-for
It is demonic...whether you like it or not.
But taking into account what you are saying, do you think you are doing your fellow man a favor by coddling or enabling his negative thinking?
Or, perhaps, are you doing him a favor by pointing it out?
I don't know about you, but I appreciate the hell out of someone telling me when I am getting negative.
That said, I appreciate you're telling me that my comment was uncalled for. I might have been a little overly cranky and will apologize.
I apologize for calling you a demon. I can be a little bit of a demon myself before I have had enough coffee first thing in the morning.
Now go sit in the corner for 20 minutes :P
That said, the reason I posted this article isn't to demonstrate its racism. I thought it might encourage us to see a story about achievement.
We fall for the Marxist trap that has been set for us when all we see is "racism" in the media and don't see the good stories.
If America isn't the land of opportunity for all of us...it won't survive.
You and I know the media is against us. So it goes without saying that the media is part of the group trying to start a race war.
Will do. And I will take my fresh cup of coffee with me.;-)
I think his original comment was meant to be sarcasticalistic about how the media is blind to anything except their agenda.
But it could be easy to misconstructionate it.
Heheh. I think you might be correctistical.
Never liked Jack Daniel’s #7.
The 1856 is quite good, the 1884 not so much.
Her company doesn’t even make the whiskey, it’s just woke marketing.
I don't see anything wrong with that. Do you?
So the article is all about race. The fact the woman is obviously business savey and successful and started her first business at 18 is secondary to the writer.
Why is it always necessary for the media to point out race and gender?
The article could have been written and left out both and just posted a picture of the owner.
I remember an article a few years ago that mentioned that it was hidden history that had just been discovered about Uncle Nearest. I really don’t believe it was hidden so well, because on a trip to the distillery many years ago I bought a book published in the 60’s about Jack. The whole story was in there about Nearest and Jack. So it was common knowledge that Nearest and the Preacher Dan Call ( I think that was his name) were the original distillers of the whiskey now called Jack Daniels. Jack was a child around 9 years old when he took over the whiskey business from the Preacher. It is an amazing story.
