I too took typing in HS (class of '78). Only boy in class, didn't do me any good.
Typing however did me much good. Training to be a Morse Operator, manual typewriter mill.
Put "miles on the dials" of an R-390.

Led to better things and a great career.

I was in Tech Control and the R390 and CV-88/89 were standard installation equipment. That’s how we searched our frequency allocations for being clear to use (without interference like bagpipes, other traffic, etc.) when we were running long-haul HF shots.
