From October of 1991, here is "The 60s Remembered," an excellent documentary about the turbulent 1960s, going year by year, focusing on events that took place in Cleveland, Ohio. Taped from WVIZ (PBS), Ch. 25, Cleveland.

Go to 6:15, where the story begins, at 8:28 of the video, an unnamed black commentator, states that they were not violent but "liberators", the beginning of BLM, and the antithesis of Martin Luther King.
In my eyes, the only good things about the ‘60s were the music and the
space program.
And the 1968 Detroit Tigers.
I agree.
Plus, I would add - the golden age of broadcast television.
And to think it was called a vast wasteland then. If that was a vast wasteland what we have now can only be classified as a hazardous waste dump.
With endless commercials.
I’d take cigarette commercials over what we get now.
My Pillow and Balance of Nature producers should be executed! I’ll take Dinah Shore Chevy ads, Marlboros or the log rolling bear for Hamm’s beer.
a hazardous waste dump.
HAHAHA, a great comparison. I agree!
I was in the military and an adult in the 60’s and could write a thesis on the era. Much more violence and turmoil than recently. Between the anti-war riots, JFK, MLK, and Bobby Kennedy murders, winding down of Jim Crow, and a myriad of other issues, it was a shitshow. Kent State kind of marked the end of the bulk of it as I recall. Big difference between then and now is that democrats and republicans were pretty much on same team and law enforcement was not held back.
I remember all of those, plus the Democratic National Convention, Chicago, 1968. Mayor Daley, the rioting, the firehoses…
My favorite part of the 60’s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7eQPm5e-lE
That was another big one. Not to mention the Watts riot, Detroit, Cleveland etc. Closest thing since were the Rodney King riots. Koreans took care of their stuff in that one.
were all behind our baseball teammm...GO GET EM....TIGERS!!!....
4th grade...Mrs Lallys English class.....she actually rolled in a 19 inch B&W television..and we got to watch Bob Gibson strike out 17 Tigers. Thats ok...we got em in 7.....
Detroit, for one never recovered....
The turbulent 1960s were the result of the democrat party. Same then as before and the same now. Always violence on their part.
Ghoulardi.
Green acres are the place to be, farm living is the life for me
I like Green Acres too. I still say Arnold Ziffel was the star of the show.
I was on the fence between Arnold and Lisa Douglas
Oh Eva..you looked so good
