Thank you for that.
Your points are goofy.
Deaths by deer are usually auto crashes. Deaths by cattle and horses are due to careless individuals who should have known better.
Dogs, aggressive dogs especially, have inbred killer instincts and therefore many pit bull breeds must be put down and eliminated.
So pet deer in neighborhoods kill 20X more often than pet dogs?
I don’t know anyone with pet deer.
I suppose you will say pet sharks kill even more than pet deer.
By the way, we have open season on the wild kind of deer, every year.
Maybe we have open season on the pet kind of pit bull, every 20 years and call it even.
“I live in the country so there is no such thing as “animal control” unless I do it”
We live in the same type of area, with dirt roads nearby. For decades, college students have come out in the country to “set their animals free” after graduating. In their minds, the pet will find a farm to live on and fulfill their dreams of a long and happy life. In reality, the pets are usually only found when they are diseased and tick-ridden. It’s painful to my husband when he has to be he one to put them out of their misery. The cowardly students put that chore on someone else to do. We have gotten to a few before they have reached that point and found homes for them or adopted them ourselves. But, most of the time, they are too far gone to save.
And, these people have the gall to set out their pet’s food dish with a day’s worth of food when they drop them off on the dirt road. As if the dog food fairy will refill the dish overnight. It’s a sad thing to witness.
Government goes hog wild on getting rid of invasive species. The same should go for pit bulls. Cock fights never killed anyone and they are outlawed. Shows how much humans are valued.
No, the level of rational discourse for this site has become goofy.
Facts are no longer relevant here, only blind obedience to the posted sensationalist narrative.
I think I will ban myself rather than engage with the current shallow level of prevailing thought.
When SAFD firefighters got off the truck they were attacked by the dogs and forced to defend themselves with pickaxes and pike poles while they tried to treat the victim...
You would expect firefighters to be armed with pistols - in addition to lugging around their firefighting equipment?!
Regards,
I sympathize with you, CFW. Had to do the same thing on my step-ma's ranch in western WA.
Regards,
Slippery bathtubs account for untold injuries and even deaths. How much longer are we going to allow the carnage to continue?
(Yes, I agree with you, Responsibility2nd.)
Regards,
👍
Correct on that response. If the responders had pickaxes, they needed to act like they had the advantage and be “bigger”, more aggressive, and meaner than the dogs. Even a pit bull isn’t going to function well with a pickaxe stuck well into its ribs.
Well, yeah, but almost of those deer fatalities are cars hitting deer.
Deer actually attacking humans walking down a residential sidewalk is pretty darn rare. Ditto for horses and cattle.
Yellow jacket or hornets, well, they are pretty nasty...
Well.... there was a story here on FR a few days ago about some Irish dude a rooster killed.
But, that’s pretty rare.
Rooster attacks on humans, though, are quite common. Ask anybody with free range chickens including a rooster or two. They like to blindside ya’...
In some neighborhoods, I would not be surprised.
Somewhat agreed, but posting irrelevant “facts” does your argument no good. (Another FReeper favorite.)
Most pit bulls well trained and kept from a very early age are ok. A few are not, and their owners should weed them out.
Problem is pit bull (and other dogs too) owners who don’t put in the effort needed. There are way too many of those. And for whatever reasons, pit bulls are a very popular breed.
“The two Staffordshire terriers, a male and female, were involved in another attack two years ago when they were also impounded with animal services, ACS Director Shannon Sims told KSAT.”
Ineffective Government! They should of been put down the first time.
They were EMTs and firemen.
Firefighters ought have a shotgun on the vehicles.
I should too!!!
Pit lovers assail the thread in 5... 4... 3...
