At Hollywood Burbank Airport at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, a Mesa Airlines flight had to abort a landing attempt while just over a mile from the runway after a SkyWest Airlines flight was given permission to take off at the same time, NBC News reports.
The pilot of the Mesa Bombardier CRJ900 was able to pull out of the landing attempt, and air traffic control directed the aircraft out of the path of the SkyWest Embraer E175, which departed the airport without any issues.
The takeoff “prompted an automated alert to sound on the flight deck of the Mesa aircraft,” NBC reported.

Who are the pilots? Same questions.
Equity hire air traffic controller.
I wonder why neither of the pilots or co-pilots heard the bad clearance given?? This is normally a silent period in the cockpit with the radio being the only sound
May as well skynet control the airports. It may or may not have gone self-aware yet, but at least it doesn’t have THC in it’s system.
The curse of Buttigig continues.
“Diversity” is a full employment program for the incompetent.
I see bloated, woke, irresponsible, politicized and lazy government bureaucracy at every level I encounter it.
At the local DMV, HHS or VA, its pernicious effects are slow-moving and don’t cause mass disasters, only personal disasters, which aren’t interesting to politicians or media.
But I assume the same exists at FAA. Their mistakes will be a lot worse.
DEI in action
Calibrate DIEversity!
Years ago I used to fly out to California. Hope was my favorite airport. So easy to get into, get to your flight and get your car. I don’t know if it still is but it was 10 years ago.
Celebrate DIEversity!
There have been a lot of near misses lately. Won’t be long before it won’t be a miss.
Goofy questions.
Goofy comment.
Another goofy comment.
Loved walking out on the tarmac to board. No metal detectors, no lines. Would board up the back stairs of the 727s. The airport required them to climb quickly for noise reasons. Riding 727s was like flying on a rocket.
Yet in light of announcements by airlines and the gubmint to fully support DIE very relevant.
DIE...diversity, inclusiveness, equity...
