I’ve got a friend who shot himself in the ankle with a 1911.
Poor trigger discipline while re-holstering.
Series 70 and earlier 1911s can sometimes do the same thing when dropped on their uncocked hammers, despite the inertial firing pin. That was the whole point of the Series 80 changes.
That said, you *can’t* put a 1911 on safe unless it is cocked, so that doesn’t happen very often. I suspect John Browning was kind of sending a message with that...
