Rand Paul could be the SECRET to winning the White House
Washington Examiner ^ | Feb 22 | Paul Bedard

With two Republicans already in the 2024 presidential race and possibly a half-dozen more in spring, some forward-thinking strategists are already looking to next year, when the eventual nominee will pick a running mate.

While there are a lot of choices, the early betting is on a Capitol Hill firebrand uniquely poised to bring in the libertarian wing of the GOP, which could provide a bump of 3% to 4% of the vote.

“There are only two realistic GOP nominees: Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis,” said an adviser to House Republicans who is also close to several past conservative presidential candidates.

Since neither is likely to pick the other as a running mate, the adviser offered libertarian Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) as a good fit.

“Rand Paul as VP for either eliminates the need for a libertarian nominee or third-party candidate," the adviser said. "And having that extra 3%-4% moving to the Republican ticket in 10-12 key states would be the margin of victory."

“...but he will not lift a finger to stop it.”

What would you have him do at this moment? Or do you think he doesn’t care about voter fraud? Or are you projecting that should he win, he would do nothing to try to stop it?

Or do you just not like him?

“poised to bring in the libertarian wing of the GOP, which could provide a bump of 3% to 4% of the vote”

And what percent of the GOP will stay home if a “liberaltarian” is on the ticket?

Did you watch any of the Lake press conferences last Sept and Oct? She is very smart, tough, and doesn’t put up with any press reporter BS (since she was one herself).

The secret to winning the white house is a fair election.

It isn’t going to happen. Nothing is being done to assure that or even insure that.

A republican win is more than likely DOA.

You’re going to find yourself kicked off this forum. Acknowledging that you can live with “things not working out my way” has become high treason around here. Instead you’re supposed to have you hair catch fire and denounce anyone who disagrees with you as a stooge, cuck, or traitor

He sure as sh!t would eliminate a few departments and agencies. He hates waste and has written several bills to cap spending and reduce the debt. He’s been in Fauci’s face for years on vax-related issues.

You naysayers are a big disappointment. Think younger voters. Think of his ‘conditions’ for accepting the vp slot. For starters how about a TOTAL exposure of ALL FBI files on EVERY American citizen? The charges of ‘deniers’ or tin foil won’t work on that. He could be the point man for for confronting all the BS the deep state puts out. Think about it. Higher profile. Let POTUS Trump deal with foreign policy.

Rand is one of a handful or two at most of actual conservatives in the Senate.

“libertarian wing of the GOP” ? Such a candidate, must, and can, bring in those outside a GOP wing. Many libertarian independents and Democrats are for less regulation, small government, no foreign entanglements, etc. Positions some think are Republican only issues.

The hitch is that these non-GOP libertarians often disagree with the GOP on sex, guns, shoot-first-ask-questions-later police activity.... social issues.

We who are in this coalition called the GOP must be willing to welcome those who disagree with us on some issues. We are a coalition. The very nature of the US is that we are individuals and individualists. We often disagree solely because we do not want to be seen as brainwashed rubber stamps.

If you like the candidate, vote for that candidate. Welcome others who vote for that candidate, regardless of your differences.

In 1964 I got activists in YPSL and YSA to vote for Goldwater because he was anti-establishment. If a Rand Paul type attracts similar who disagree with us on some issues, we should welcome them...and convert them.

The same with Vernon Jones converts. Welcome them, convert them. Don’t make them feel unwelcome.

So many so called experts. I don't see Rand Paul as a VP type candiate. He's a legislator. A good guy though.

From my experience in Chicago, the way fraud is best dealt with is before it happens. Trump supporters sat on their hands as spectators cheering the player on the field. Before the game was over, those cheering fans should have become players on the field and not spectators.

If you personally know the voters in a precinct....if 100,000 players in the game know the voters in 100,000 precincts.... then it is impossible for the vote to be stolen.

Vote fraud is possible when we hide in front of the screen and refuse to talk with the voters eye ball to eye ball.

True

Trump was the first Republican I’ve voted for in a presidential election since Reagan otherwise voted L or wrote in Ron Paul (Randy’s father)

I don’t think Rand could win a general election or primary out the gate but I think if he served as vp in a successful Republican administration he could have a shot at winning on his own

Unfortunately no system of governance provides real justice these days so I don’t see this winning

Personally I think we need someone who goes in as conservative but turns hardcore once in office and purges the hell out of our system

Trump is going to pick a woman.

DeSantis is not going to run. So this is just silly speculation, I’m afraid.

Or we could stop watching endless Trump rallies and get off our fat asses and work hard to ferret out every possible vote in every precinct much like Youngkin did in VA. Then after we work the precincts to get the votes out we work the polls. All the while ceaselessly haranguing the state and local politicians about election integrity.
