Looking over my family records, the oldest lived to 105. He died after falling off his tractor. My grandfather made it to 84. My father 73. I'll be 67 this year. The trend is much less leisure time each generation and a shorter life.

I'm not old enough quite yet to have tested this to its fullest, but from my observation, one of the keys to staying alive longer is never to stop moving. Being sedentary not only increases health problems in terms of cardiovascular fitness and what-not, but it allows your body almost literally to fall apart.

Right now, I'm watching middle-aged people with nothing but aches and pains that hobble them because they never get any exercise, while others (including me) that are diligent about fitness are still running around like much younger people.
