Russians Being Offered Free Food to Attend Putin Rally

Russians are being offered free food to attend a major Vladimir Putin rally in Moscow on Wednesday, according to reports.

The mass rally at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow was announced by the Kremlin earlier this month, and it's being held a day after the Russian president's much delayed state-of-the-nation address in the capital.

Putin is expected to make an appearance at the rally, which is set to feature performances from pop stars and rock groups.

The Telegram channel of the independent Russian publication Sirena shared images of a Google Forms sheet created by a Russian volunteer organization called Mega Volunteer. The online forms encourage Russians to sign up to attend the event, promising them free food.

"Friends! We are pleased to announce the set as spectators for a patriotic concert, which will be held in Luzhniki on February 22 in honor of the Defender of the Fatherland Day!" the form reads.

"Artists will perform as in past years, such as: Oleg Gazmanov, Shaman, Lyube, Nikolai Baskov and others. The concert is free for everyone!"

The organization boasts that those who sign up with them will get seats in front of the stage and "free meals."

"Spectators for a rally-concert are gathered in traditional ways...depending on their interests, people are offered free meals, a payment of 500 rubles ($7 dollars), or exemption from studies," Sirena reported.

Employees at a government building in Moscow said 70 per cent of them had been forced to attend the rally, according to internal correspondence seen by The Moscow Times.

‘To be honest, I think it’s absurd. We have to go and there’s nothing we can do with it.

‘The authorities are using it as a propaganda tool to show off in the eyes of Z-patriots and those who watch TV. I wouldn’t go to the event voluntarily,’ a state employee told the newspaper.

Russians were also promised 500 roubles (£5.54) each if they attended Putin’s speech, according to flyers published on Telegram.

One flyer told students they would be given university credits and ‘free food and gifts’ if they attended, while another said they wouldn’t have to attend lessons for the whole day.

For those who did attend, they complained about how ‘bad’ the organisation process behind the event was.

‘I think that the organization is bad, they gave us a couple of buses, but there were a lot of people and we had to stay inside those buses. I had to get up at 5 a.m. to get to the stadium,’ a woman in her 50s from the Moscow region told The Moscow Times.

‘They mobilised 300,000 people, and they say 200,000 should be here, can you imagine?’ she added, while holding a banner with a photo of Putin on it.

‘I didn’t really want to go to the concert, but at least I’ll visit the stadium, I’ve never been there,’ a man in his 50s said.

Russia will be snatching tourists up at the airport and pressing them into military service before long.

1/ Cadets at the Moscow Police College have reported an attempt to forcibly mobilise them en masse under false pretences. They say they were locked in a hall while attempts were made to get them to sign up to join the army. They had to call the police to be released.

2/ According to the Russian 'Mobilisation News' Telegram channel, "the cadets were assembled under the pretext of rehearsing a graduation ceremony. But representatives of the military enlistment office came to the meeting.

3/ "The students said that they were detained for an hour and a half in the college on Fabritiusa Street by their teachers - department head Vyacheslav Rozhko and teachers Sergey Vasilyev and Alexei Novikov, as well as 2 representatives of the Tushino military enlistment office."

4/ The students were handed mobilisation orders by the military registration and enlistment office staff and were pressured to sign them. However, they refused, leading an impasse in which they were locked into the hall while their instructors refused to let them go.

5/ Mobilisation News reports that student Maxim G., 19, "called the police asking for help. The boy said that he was a cadet in a police college and that he and his classmates had been locked in the auditorium to force him to go to the front."

6/ The police students were released after the police arrived at the police college to free them from the police instructors.

The incident likely reflects another example of Russia's ongoing 'quiet mobilisation', targeting state employees. /end

The Democrats in the USA also pass-out goodies to their supporters. They even give them fake holidays like Kwanza and Cinco de Mayo and excuse them from school attendance.

And about your Putin unity, watch Patrushev. Especially after Putin starts his next round of cancer treatments on March 5.

Comment was just as much about US disunity, western nations more generally. Not sure about the inner workings of Russia but from what I see they look like they have the same goals and working towards one goal. This part of the world no longer has that.

What does it say about your country/economy if instead of bribing people with money you can bribe them with FOOD?

The food shelves at my Wal-Mart are starting to look like those photos of grocery store shelves in Russia we used to see.
