A massive storm is set to bring a wintry mix of snow, rain and strong winds to more than 20 states across the country this week.
Millions of residents in 22 states from coast-to-coast are under winter weather alerts, with at six of those states also under blizzard warnings. The storm — named Winter Storm Olive — may also bring record-high levels of snowfall to the upper midwest, where “this event could very well break top five snowfalls in the Twin Cities dating back to 1884,” according to the local National Weather Service.
The Twin Cities region may see up to two feet of snow, the NWS said.
“A major winter storm will affect a large portion of the country this week. Heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain is likely across the western and northern tier portions of the United States. Extreme impacts are likely, and historic snowfall is possible near Minneapolis, MN,” the NWS tweeted on Tuesday.

It is already summer in Texas. We just skipped right past spring into the fires of hell.
Abandon ship....!!
Doom, doom...!!
Olive = Shelly Duvall.

22 of O’Bama’s Heinz 57 are doomed!
How many tens of millions of Americans, among others, are being threatened by this thing they call “Olive”? How much of an overabundance of caution will it take to keep us safe? /s
We need to shut the country down immediately
Snowing pretty nicely in northern Idaho at the moment. Short power outage last night, checked the emergency supplies by flashlight. Yup. Plenty of beer.
Have weather persons ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf? How many storms of the century are we allowed in any one calendar year?
They’re saying 24”, that’s not even close to a record.
More alarmism by the global climate jerks.
I’m 72 and drove into work after brushing snow off my car. I will probably never spend a dime of the money I am making these days on myself.

So why do you keep working? It is a question I keep asking myself.
Went grocery shopping. Filled the gas can for the snow blower. Bought beer. Put the garbage cans in the garage.
Ready.
Suppose to hit 74 on Thurs.here in South Jersey. Daffodils are in bud. We got an early spring here.
I agree with your post about a nation of pussies.
I remember we lived in a rural area about 8 miles from town and my father had to go to work no matter what or get fired. He would walk and try to hitch hike when it was to cold to get the car started.
Grandkids, security, get-out-of-the-house
When I was 14 I sold Good Humor, carrying a cooler filled with dry ice and ice cream bars, making 3¢ cents on each bar I sold in the hot sun on Rockaway Beach. Senior engineer pay, even with inflation, feels like free money.
On a positive note, the chinese spy balloons will be well above the storm system.
I do contract programming for the AVL company that handles all of MnDOT’s snowplows and spreaders. My software handles the web site output as well as web services such as uploading photos from the on truck cameras. You can see the photos on the 511MN.org website, check the snowplow photos on the feature selection list. I also wrote the service that third parties use to get the photos for the 511 site.
“named Winter Storm Olive”
Has ANYBODY at ANY TIME or ANYWHERE ever used one of these stupid names slapped on a snowstorm or a rainstorm?
