Not deluded. Authoritarians all do the same thing. They crack down on people they dislike politically while allowing other evils which they favor (in this case Muslim immigrants) to do whatever they want and then they tell you how effective and beneficial their policies are trusting that the propaganda organs will all praise his great accomplishments in lockstep.

The left simply has not moral concerns about lying and hurting others to get what they want.

By the way, Biden is doing the same thing. Shutting down industries left and right, bringing in hundreds of thousands of immigrants across an open border and telling us the economy is stronger than ever and that the border crisis is totally under control. And the might-as-well-be state run media "fact checkers" are silent, as expected.

Bingo. They will lie and deflect until they get power permanently. I wish I could say it’s not working. But it is working.

As you noted, much of the blame for this belongs with the press. It is the job of the press to investigate, question, and be skeptical. Well, they still do that. But only with conservatives.
