I saw them once at a free concert at the University of Florida Bandshell in 1982. I could feel the sorrow in the song.

Nobody could touch these guys in their heyday with Duane.

Hubby and I got into a lot of trouble to the sound-tracks of the Allman Brothers back in the late 70s. Nothing really that would land us in jail (well, not more than a day or so), but we were a couple of young wild ones. Boy, did we have fun! Southern rock is the best music ever made!

Got to see Gregg at The Caravan of Dreams in Ft. Worth way back. 1st table in front. Had to share with that prop comedian that would pull your spine out of your back and all kinds of weird things. He was a setup guy.

The BEST band of the time...
Saw them at a small club...stunning.
When Duane died it was almost like a body blow. Melissa was awesome.
So bluesey...so rocking.
Lord, I’m foolish to be here in the first place,
I know some man gonna walk in and take my place.
Ain’t no way in the world, I’m going out that front door
Cause there’s a man down there, might be your man I don’t know.

Thank you so much for posting this. “Melissa” is one of my favorite songs to play in every band I’ve been in since it first appeared, and it always comes from a deep place inside. This video had me in tears. So beautiful, so heartfelt.

I saw the Allman Brothers Band on Nov 07, 1973, at the Cincinnati Gardens. I remember hearing they were coming up on the first anniversary of Berry Oakley's death. I won't much remember the actual concert because my head was in another place. I know we were up in a top section looking down at the stage on the left. Sigh, it's eight months less than fifty years ago.
