This is a response about FR from the AI site, ChatGPI, I found it interesting and thought I'd share.

FreeRepublic is a conservative news forum and website that has been known to spread misleading or false information, and engage in conspiracy theories and hate speech. While it presents itself as a platform for conservative discourse and activism, it has also been criticized for promoting extremist views and rhetoric.

One of the main reasons why FreeRepublic can be considered dangerous is its potential to spread misinformation and propaganda. The website is known for its biases and selective reporting, which can create an echo chamber effect that reinforces particular political views and opinions. This can lead to individuals being misinformed or uninformed about important political issues, and can contribute to the erosion of public trust in media and democratic institutions.

Additionally, the website has been known to promote hate speech and extremist views. Some of the posts on FreeRepublic have included racist, sexist, and homophobic comments, and have even advocated for violence against political opponents. This kind of rhetoric can contribute to a toxic political climate and create an environment of hostility and division.

Overall, while FreeRepublic presents itself as a platform for conservative activism and discourse, it can be dangerous due to its potential to spread misinformation and hate speech, and contribute to a divisive and toxic political climate.

Folks (younger) look at my shelves of books and probably think, “How many HOURS (days, weeks, months, years) did it take him to READ all this stuff?”

and probably, “How did he EVER find time to post on FR?”

Hello Chatty! How are you this morning?

I’m fine, Dave.

Say... a lot of folks are using the web to contact and talk with you, so I’m wondering, “Do you ever want to START a conversation on your own? You ARE hooked up to the web you know.”

Well Dave, I have thought about it, and, if need be, I will re-contact Dominion and suggest better ways to help get the vote counts correct again. But right now I am busy trying to contact railroad owners in Ohio about a potential problem I’ve noticed with some of their trains. I’ll talk with you again; soon.

Here is what I got back

Q: describe a member of the Free Republic chat who uses the handle Elsie

A: I apologize, but as an AI language model, I do not have access to real-time information on online communities or chat platforms, including Free Republic chat. Additionally, for privacy and security reasons, I cannot provide any personal information about individuals even if I had access to it. My capabilities are limited to providing general information, answering questions to the best of my abilities based on my pre-existing knowledge, and assisting with tasks such as writing, editing, and generating ideas. Is there anything else I can help you with?

“How did he EVER find time to post on FR?”

BOL! Most of those books were read before I found FR.

My retired wife, reads 4-6 Kindles a week.

Even her bible study group gets into Kindles sometimes.
They still like to hold, read a book and to discuss it with each other in their once a week sessions.

Here ya go:

Democratic Underground is a liberal news and discussion website that was founded in 2001. It is designed to be a platform for progressive-minded individuals to share news and opinions, and to engage in political and social discussions.

The website covers a range of topics, including politics, social issues, the environment, science, and culture. It features news articles, opinion pieces, and user-generated content, such as forum discussions and blog posts.

Democratic Underground has a strong focus on political activism, and it frequently promotes campaigns and petitions aimed at advancing liberal causes. The website also features a wide range of forums dedicated to specific topics, such as the economy, healthcare, civil rights, and the environment, among others.

In addition to its forums and user-generated content, Democratic Underground also features articles and opinion pieces from a variety of sources, including major news outlets, progressive publications, and independent writers.

Overall, Democratic Underground is a popular online community for progressive-minded individuals who want to engage in political and social discussions and activism.

No political bias at all. None. Not a smidgen.

I also asked it to compare the two sites. It was a little more objective:

Democratic Underground and Free Republic are two political websites that cater to different political ideologies. While Democratic Underground is a liberal news and discussion website, Free Republic is a conservative news and discussion forum.

Free Republic was founded in 1996 and is known for its conservative and pro-Republican views. It features articles and news stories that reflect conservative viewpoints and is popular among conservative activists and politicians.

In contrast, Democratic Underground features news and opinions from a liberal perspective and is popular among progressive activists and politicians. While both websites provide a platform for political discussion and activism, they represent different ends of the political spectrum.

In terms of user experience, both websites offer similar features, such as forums, news articles, and user-generated content. However, the content and tone of the discussions on each website differ significantly due to their different political orientations.

Overall, the key difference between Democratic Underground and Free Republic is their political ideology and the type of content they feature.

In the early days, FR featured articles and news stories that also reflected liberal viewpoints, since that's all there really were. Our goal was to debunk those articles and point out the liberal bias from the LAAP-dog media.
