No, it's been declining because viruses mutate to more innocuous forms over time. Also folks are doing quit well with natural immunity. The shots on the other hand represent an existential threat to humanity.

All of those factors played a part but when the virus was most deadly, the vaccines were the only thing that prevented millions of deaths.
The problem with natural immunity is one has to be infected to achieve it. There’s not much evidence that natural immunity is more durable or more effective.
