The thread title says it all... If you think I'm wrong, check it out
Freegards to all.
Wes was an original, that’s for sure. A master of octaves and smooth as glass.
The list of great players is a long one. Plenty of styles for everyone to admire.
Virtuosity and technique are fun to watch but the ability to play in ways that evoke an emotional response and pure enjoyment of a great song is what matters most IMO. That’s the true nature of artistry.
Campbell was a gifted player. Raw, native talent. Very few players have the innate ability he had. He made it look so easy. The mark of a master at his craft.
Don’t forget NHØP, on bass.
Rick Beato did a great piece on him.

Knopfler is another one who makes it look so easy as well.
One of my favorite songs.
Love playing fretless electric but usually switch to fretted to sing. Current gig is low pressure and mostly mellow so the slight delay doesn’t ruin the show and I am not the main singer. Music is magic for those who play and those who listen.
I *HATE* that song!
How about Jaan Pechecan Ho by the Creaking Planks?

Twin sisters
Katie and Corie Pressley
(pictured here in 2012 at the historic Oconaluftee Baptist Church in Cherokee) were born and raised in Brasstown. They are affectionately called Chatter and Chitter on the Appalachian blog, Blind Pig & the Acorn, published by their mother, Tipper Pressley
I’ll have to check this out later today...
OMW out the door to hopefully get my phone fixed.
Clean, crisp, and expressive. Just wonderful.
Pass and Clark recorded an album together. It’s quite good with some impossibly phenomenal guitar playing.
Agreed.
A Ry Cooder thing... see: intro to Honky Tonk Women. That is Ry.
Ditto. And people should not overlook a score of current fingerpicking masters, who are still alive. Chet’s best friend and song scorer— John Knowles for example-

Yeah— love Eric!
I remember the first time I saw that Austin City Limits with Eric. My jaw was literally on the floor.
Expressive is a good description. Byrd had a relaxed and engaging style of playing. You could tell he loved the songs he played.
