A Florida man reportedly fended off a bobcat attack on his daughter’s dog by swinging his fists, clocking the wild animal in the face.
Paul Broadhurst told Fox 32 Orlando that he was walking the dog, Koda, on Feb. 11 in the Stoneybrook neighborhood of East Orlando when the bobcat pounced.
“The bobcat, he clawed into me pretty good, and I end up having to punch the bobcat in the mouth to get it off of me,” Broadhurst said.
“He was walking down the sidewalk that bobcat was just over the top of him. He no sooner got there, and I ripped him off.”
Broadhurst was left with scratches after he tried to pry the animal away from the dog, eventually sending the bobcat scurrying into the tree line.

Smart ducks!
They are fast apparently. Never messed with any cats, but I’m pretty sure I have been stalked.
I’ve come across mountain lions several times in the wild, but never a bobcat. But I did work with bobcats when I was a zookeeper. I never had problems with them.
Ducks were eaten by bobcat.
Our pond ducks all disappeared when snapping turtles discovered the pond.
Shucks, my neighborhood is all Cougars. Female Cougars...
😁
I prefer a good golf club. Heavier the better. Of course I carry my CCW weapon but would be hesitant to use it in a populated area. Always carry a good knife!

Cougars?
Couple of years ago a young skunk went through opening in gate to back yard, and chased our 2 Lab’s into a corner.
I ran it out from under the porch, picked up a LH RP Shovel and used it as a spear.
I did not get sprayed, skunk dispatched and I used the shovel to remove it and plant the remains.
Our dogs recovered, no long term effect.
When I walked my dog [over 10 years twice a day and a mile each time] I always carried both a pistol as well as a metal tipped walking stick, and like Gibb's rule #9, always carry a knife.
Good throw!
Some neighbor farm boys and I would play in the big barn on our farm, building tunnels and rooms in the straw bales, swinging on the hay rope, and chucking the pickfork at a particular bale.
We found different ways to make it more challenging. One was lay one bale flat, and stand one on end, in front of and leaning against the flat one. # 1, the fork had to stick. #2, if you hit the bale high you had a chance of not only sticking it but toppling it backwards for double points.
I grew up on the farm. Quickly graduated from air rifle, pellet gun, shotgun, rifle.
Brother and I fished and hunted together right along side my dad and his friends. From the time I was 12 (he was 2 years younger). The old guys would complain about when we would let them take a shot when hunting dove around one of the stock tanks.
Those were good days. My brother died of cancer a few months ago. My dad died 2 years ago at 94.
While in high school I ran a trap line. I was set up with nails in the old hand hewn log basement ceiling beams to hang hides while drying, extra traps, stretching frames, and a skinning station.
Something was messing with my hides, not harming them, but knocking them over, so I set a double spring leg hold trap figuring I would catch a barn rat, common in the old farmhouse.
My father woke me at 1 am and ordered, “Go take care of it!”
I caught a skunk by the leg in the basement and it sprayed everywhere. Gagging, I sat on the basemeny steps and shot it with a 22 rifle I carried while checking traps.
I set up fans and scrubbed. It still took over a week to get the smell out of the house.
My father was a saint. Any other father would have beat the crap out of me for that stunt.
John Wayne gives hat tip
We both have old time stories.
Bet we could spend some time discussing these events.
