T he Australians are coming to London – and they want to take Britons back with them to solve a shortage of key workers Down Under.
Teachers, police officers, nurses and doctors are among the targets of government officials from Western Australia who have over 30,000 job vacancies left open by a booming economy. And they are not shy about their intentions.
“We are here to steal your workers,” said Paul Papalia, the Western Australia police and defence industry minister, who will lead a delegation that arrives in the UK on February 25.
The misson’s timing comes toward the end of a winter in which strikes have ravaged Britain, closing schools and taking healthcare workers off wards in the biggest wave of industrial action in decades.
With double-digit inflation looking stubborn and high energy bills leaving the cost-of-living crisis in full swing, the prospect of a better-paid life in a sunnier climate could be an easy sell. The post-Brexit free trade agreement between the UK and Australia, due to take effect this year, could also help via simplified visa arrangements.

Drive 10 miles in any direction from Perth and it’s nothing but PURE DESERT. I can see why the Brits have no interest in going there.
Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and a muzzie mayor of London all seem to be good reasons to move to Australia.
And during the lockdown, Australia turned itself back into a penal colony.
Are the taxes in Perth significantly lower than those in London?
One would have thought that being a penal colony Aussies would value freedom. Instead they are as tyrannical as the Commines in China.

Australia, OTOH, always struck me as Arizona with crocodiles.

I base all of my opinion by an R&R I took in Sydney in 1972. We went in there with a pocket full of money and a week to spend it. We tried our best and most succeeded in doing that.
The Aussies were wonderful, the climate spectacular and it was a memory of a lifetime.
They likely have 30,000 extra jobs because so many died from the vaxx. 😐
Wait a second... Australia is importing Africans by the boat load. Am I to believe these third world illiterate Africans aren’t highly skilled people to fill those highly skilled jobs?
