Ah yes, Richard Nixon, the genius who had the brilliant idea to open Communist China and Normalize Western Trade with them and the Communist Controlled SE Asian Nations, making them the powerhouse manufacturing and export nations they are now to the detriment of America and Capitalism.

All to rehabilitate his tarnished Watergate image, and lack of a statesman like reputation.

Nixon brilliance? No thanks.

You are wholly ignorant about why he had the rapprochements with China AND Russia: It was to play one off the other; a carrot and stick approach, especially with China. Nixon was a committed anti-communist, and he believed that having a division between the two major communist nations would serve the interests of the Unites States. And he was right.

Nixon's visit to Communist China came before Watergate. The Communists took control of Indochina after Nixon left office and it didn't become a powerhouse of manufacturing and export until around the time of Bush 41.
