One of the things I notice when driving through Illinois is that when they ARE doing road construction they block off 20, 30, 40 miles of roadway making it only 1 lane the whole way with a speed limit of 45 MPH.
And 90% of the time when you drive that there’s absolutely no work being done.
You WILL find a trouper there ready to pull you over for speeding in a construction zone (fines double!). Otherwise it’s just ultra frustrating they can’t seem to just limit lane closures to the areas they are actually doing active construction at that time.
That’s part of the corruption...they set up traps to give tickets. Cross the state line from IL to WI and it’s night and day.
