The people who pay - the insurers - have already picked Door No. 2.

The docs aren’t happy about it. I just had to sit through a lecture from Power Doc Couple Numero Uno about how bad this will all be. I just had to smile. They brought it on themselves by trying to artificially limit their numbers and thus competition. AMA is a union and it isn’t a particularly good one.

So they just need to get with the program and be the leaders of the pack: an organized group of people with increasing levels of competence and responsiblity working as a team, and being open to discussion and collaboration instead of top down military model of management.

And that includes leveraging technology as much as possible. That will aid you and them.

Social workers are working split shifts as counselors to raging maniacs threatening to slash their families with a blade in places where defunded police officers are no longer called to crimes.*

Now they will use first aid manuals for campers to see what help they can give in emergency rooms.
They’ll be exhausted.

* In Ypsilanti, Michigan the major highway intersection was blocked by protesters a couple of years ago. They demanded (and got) a review board stricter than the old one because a
man held his family’s life at risk and two officers risked their to wrestle his weapon away. He sued and was supported by civil rights activists. They claimed the police didn’t sufficiently go through all of the “de-escalation” steps when they saw the man lunge at his family (declared mentally ill later).

Duh.. It’s called supply and demand.

We don’t produce enough MDs because we have morons from. K-12 and rotten schools that indoctrinate and not educate.

Obama care drives demand even higher and supply lower by colluding with all other 3rd party payers to squeeze reimbursement rates.

It’s a perfect storm and all we have to do is look at UK to see what happens when you entitle everyone to “free” medical care

Also for those who say it’s a private insurance co in this case, you have to realize government payers are the 2000lb gorilla in the room

If only hospitals can keep all the sick people from coming and let them get back to their core business - primary care for illegals.

Rather than going to the ER and undergoing the fecklessness there, find a witch doctor and have them shake some sand and rattle some bones. Your chances to living or dying are about even.

The majority....the *large* majority...of people who visit ERs don’t have a problem that even remotely resembles an “emergency”.

Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners are cheaper than doc and, for most maladies, are better and diagnosing and treating.

IMHO

“Though I see that shift, it’s not about profits at the end of the day,” Orozco said. “It’s about the patient.”

HAHAHAHAHA! Stop, Jennifer, you're killing me. Perhaps literally.

Collapse is near.

Better be thinking about what comes next, because that decision is coming up fast.

They used fishy statistics to say that there would be a MD surplus if more med schools were built or expanded in the mid-70s.

There were 88 medical schools in 1966. In 1976 there were 114 (+29%). Now there are 158.

But definitive evidence remains elusive that replacing ER doctors with nonphysicians has a negative impact on patients, said Dr. Cameron Gettel

Look harder.

We are living in very serious dire straits.

I do believe that we are living during the termination phases of Western Civilization. It is committing suicide.

Oh, the stories I could tell you.

Nonphysicians likely couldn’t do any worse in my neck of the woods.

And they are still producing 75% of the actual need, or we wouldn’t be importing Pakistanis.

Please prove me wrong, I’m dying to hear the rationalization.

The working class is suffering the most. Wealthy communities can support well-staffed hospitals.

But illegals (who pay nothing) are burdening hospitals in lower income communities. It's those hospitals that have to spread their limited resources across illegals, the working poor, and the lower middle class.

Why might that be? Could it have anything to do with the law that says that ER care will be free to those who don’t pay?
