Just received a spam email from ‘noreply@amzn.com.’ it stated “My account is frozen.” I need to click and provide enough information for them to to steal as much as possible. The email arrived RIGHT AS A REAL AMAZON PACKAGE ARRIVED on our doorstep. Whether on a phone, tablet, laptop, tower, whatever, ALWAYS slow down and examine everything. When in doubt, delete. Or...Use a different device, go to the home page of the entity, and examine what is happening.
Our spam filters at work were very good, but once in a blue moon something might slip through. One time the classic Nigerian $$$ Letter arrived via email. You could tell from the email details it was from Eastern Europe. Since they wanted my information, I composed a long, detailed response. I explained that I needed to verify that they were all on the up and up. I demanded $5,000 in Gold Bullion be FedEx’d to my workplace, and then, once we verified it was real gold, we could continue interacting. I further stated that since the original email message indicated that they already had much of my personal information (they didn’t) they should be able to arrange the quick gold delivery to me. They responded with “I know understand you.” I responded with “No Kidding Dick Tracy.” That ended the conversation.
Weird that that happened right as you received an Amazon package, but I have gotten several of those messages even though I have not received any packages.
