Well, if this is true, they should string him up from the tallest tree for all to see him, and never forget what he did...

Would an uncontrolled release have been better?

Gee, who would have guessed a politician did something stupid that will end up killing people.

So, what was the “first” option?

This “article” is minimal.

This may have been a risk of explosion if left alone.

I don’t know. But casting aspersions upon corps is common commie behavior. I won’t stand for it.

Accidents are accidents. About time people act that way, instead of trying to lynch everyone who looks involved.

Now, off the soapbox, and back to looking for facts....

The stuff was getting out either way. Controlling the release was rather better than an unpredictable explosion, even if a poor option itself.

dammed it you do or dammed if you dont

What is better to release the chemicals in a controlled fashion and burn them off or wait until the fires cause a massive BLEVE explosion when heat cause the tank car to fail and release the contents in a massive fireball

I don’t know what to think, but I am skeptical of taking recommendations from Norfolk Southern and I am skeptical of taking recommendations from government experts. Just an aside, what you see Ohio’s dweeb in the white lab coat with the bow tie? Never trust anyone who wears a bow tie in the 21st century. Just saying.

I read this in a tweet regarding this incident:

“I was a firefighter for many years and a hazmat technician. Never ever was the solution to a leaking container of a highly toxic substance “light it up” ever.”

“There would be foam options readily available and the compound is highly volatile. Odds are it would evaporate before ever saturating the ground, and with the proper foam any posing a threat would be absorbed and neutralize.”

Stupid article, STUPID comments. Controlled release of the gas to be burned up was far, far better than letting the car explode and spray shrapnel up to a mile, damaging homes and possibly killing people.

From a post from Millenial Millie it could be DeWine might have in fact made the correct choice.

I am not a fire fighter. My gut reaction would be to cool off the minimally damaged cars with water and let the ones on fire burn out.

Has Norfolk Southern gone woke? That may have a lot to do with how they operate.
