Does “lambasted” mean “roasted like a lamb on a spit, by Dad, the moment you got home”? If so then I agree.

I see kids acting-out in public in ways we’d have been lambasted for. After my mother got done disciplining me for unruly or bad behavior (usually a session with the 'board of education') she would wait for the tears to stop and say,
"Listen. If I didn't care...if I didn't love you, I would let you do whatever you want. You will grow up with people hating you. Is that what you want?"

Man If I had done any of that as a kid I would not have been able to set down for a week! We were well behaved in public as kids. “OR ELSE!”
