In the KJV Bible, finding ‘that’ following a pronoun is somewhat common; ‘which’ is used as well.

It’s a fairly common mistake. Just a few days ago I wrote a sentence that caused me to pause a moment concerning which one to use where there was an inanimate noun following two personal pronouns.

Does the word ‘that’ refer back to the interviews or to the doctors, and how does one make that determination. Proximity?
