China’s use of balloons to overfly U.S. territory is not an accident – it’s part of China’s Long Game for capturing Taiwan and becoming the world’s leading superpower.
What is this Long Game?
China is the oldest country on earth, dating back to 4,000 B.C.
Honoring their ancient general-philosopher Sun Tzu, China’s earned a reputation for playing the “Long Game,” whether the game involves corporate stratagems or strategic military plans.
Add to this, when it comes to China, there are no coincidences.
When planning for the long term, everything happening in the here and now are inevitably linked to their long game. Which is why the South Carolina balloon was shot down less than a week before U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s long-planned trip to Beijing.
In the face of this “intrusion” into American airspace, Blinken was forced to cancel his plan to conduct “peaceful” discussions with Chinese leaders, including Supreme Leader Xi Jinping. This timing was no coincidence.

What’s next? Here’s how this Long Game could play out:
Now that China has “groomed” Biden to react with force to any balloon sighting, the next time the Chinese send a large balloon with a large payload container, within that container will be the equivalent of a space capsule. This pod, well-protected against the very thin air at 60,000 feet, and featuring a crew of several Chinese civilian scientists – one of them likely a woman – will need to “innocently” operate a slew of non-threatening meteorological monitors. These volunteers will be sent to die for the PRC, which will occur when Biden knee-jerk orders the shoot-down of another “unmanned” spy balloon.

Joe would fall for it, guaranteed.
Shooting down Chinese balloons is likely to anger the Chinese.
Is doing so important enough to get them riled up?
They probably already have thousands of spies in the USA.
Mr. Chinaspy can fly his drone and listen to signal broadcasts.
The first written records for a country are for the Shang Dynasty, which ruled part of what is now northern China, starting about 1700 BC, or 3700 years ago.
Egypt is much older as a country, with written records going back to 2900 BC, more than a thousand years before the early Chinese records.
China has been broken up and reconstituted many times in the intervening period.
I don’t know why these people are coming up with these strange, otherworldly theories. The simplest explanation is also the most likely one. The free world is fairly open about civilian airspace usage. Nobody watches civilian-looking craft wafting through their airspace. Chinese spooks saw an opening and drove a semi through it. Hacking, balloons, tourists, students, academics, businessmen - they throw stuff at the wall, and some of it sticks.
Some time back, I read that over 90% of Chinese airspace was reserved for military use. If Wikipedia is to be believed, that number is now 70%.

When I set foot in China for the first time ever decades ago, I assembled a tripod to get a shot of a scenic riverfront view. Some random passer-by started hassling me, like I was a spy lining some installation up for an artillery fire mission. (Was he a plainclothes security guy? If so, he was a really convincing civilian, dressed like a day laborer). I hastily folded it up and walked away, lest he sic the local gendarmes on me.
I wouldn’t doubt that the PLAAF is similarly angsty about any civilian intrusions into airspace they view as theirs by right. This sentiment is entirely missing in the free world. That’s why the Chinese balloons slithered their way in. Because outside of China, no one monitors civilian craft away from airline flight routes, let alone shoots them down. It would not surprise me if the balloons had been doing their thing in US airspace for many years prior to the recent discovery and shootdown.
They DO probably already have thousands of spies in the USA.
I am reluctant to make editorial comments to articles since it would be never ending. I get your point. I think many people would not think that China really existed as a unified country until the end of the Warring States period around 200 BC when the Qin dynasty was formed. I am certainly not a history major though!
This “China plays the long game” is total bullshit. I’ve dealt with hundreds of Chinese over the last 25 years. I’ve found them almost to a person to be short sighted, and petty. Their culture is not interested in the long term.
Those balloons are being launched from within our soil definitely by Chinese spies who have made their way through our open borders or dormant sleeper cells spies who waited for the right time to leave their holes. They hit the mother lode with the vegetable in chief at the helm and all those stupid spineless woke generals at the Pentagon. America is truly truly hurting. God have mercy 😢
“It would not surprise me if the balloons had been doing their thing in US airspace for many years prior to the recent discovery and shootdown.”
I think the Pentagon or NORAD has already admitted that.

And the long game theory is absurd on its face. The Chinese elites were dressed in fine silks and living in ornately-decorated palaces a couple of thousand years ago, when the Nordics dominating the world today were running around in animal skins and living in simple wooden structures. So the quality of their long game is to lose ground for thousands of years without actually catching up? If that’s their long game, maybe they should focus on things closer to the here and now.
It is just as likely that the balloons are launched by US military assets for the sole purpose of distracting the public from what is going on in our own government. Aside from the fact that balloon surveillance seems to be an incredibly stupid way to gather intel, they make a marvelous “shiny object” to dangle in front of the American public and the Media. Chinese spies? Aliens from across the galaxy? OMG! What next?!?!?!
Hmmm …interesting point.
Maybe we should shoot them down with our “new EMP tipped missiles, that miss the mark but take out Xi and all power sources in country? Do we not have weapons that are undetectable? Hypersonic vehicles that deliver a message of “WOOPS” solly cholly?
