It’s not just the media. Take a look at the clothing catalogs you get from LL Bean and Lands End and also the print communications from your health care providers and local hospitals. All the models in these booklets and catalogs are either Black or Hispanic or Asian or Haitian. And a lot of them appear to be LGBTQ. You don’t see White models anymore. It’s like if you are a U.S. corporation and you dare to show a White model in any of your communications, you will be accused of racism or worse and sued. I have to believe that is why they do this. It’s stupid business sense to pander to 10 percent of your customer base while refusing to reflect the image and identity of the remaining 90 percent.

True. Next time you go to Target, try to see a white model depicted in their store displays. You will search in vain. Same with their commercials.

In general, advertising is designed to be an emotional appeal to stupid and/or irrational people.

I don’t know any white man who has ever bought something where advertising has had even a 1% role in the purchase decision.
