...but the author is an idiot:

Yet I hope for success for my Ukrainian brothers and sisters in arms, should their performance prove to once again, exceed expectations.

You are sending FR’s hits to MSN first, and then we go to Newsweek for the full article and photos?

I didn’t read the article!!! We are just handing our military secrets to the world. Evil and good nations are for sale so will sell it to evil for a price so they can take it apart and copy and/or better the weapon against us. Just MORE evidence our government is trying to kill us off and we keep giving them more and more power over us cause we want to sit at home and watch TV and grammy’s, etc.

To see how an undertrained crew can affect performance in a strong tank, I believe we should look at how a number of Iraqi manned M1A1 tanks were decimated or captured by ISIS with their relatively inferior armory, how dozens of Saudi M1 tanks were damaged or destroyed in Yemen against the same adversary, or even how Turkish crews faired in Leopard 2s, widely considered to be superior to the Abrams, in Turkey, also against the Islamic State.

The M1s given to both Iraq and Saudi Arabia were equipped with conventional armor, not the highly classified composite armor of U.S. Abrams tanks.

There are multiple versions of the M1 Abrams. If we even end up providing M1's, I doubt that they will be one the current top versions.

Extensive training is required for a modern M1 Abrams crew. It's not just point and shoot.

"I fear what will happen if a 21st Century version of the notorious and deadly 1991 Gulf War armored combat between Iraq and the U.S., the Battle of 73 Easting, were to occur."

Can someone explain that statement to me? Just read the wiki account of the Battle of 73 Easting, but the author's statement above doesn't make sense.

31 M1 tanks to Ukraine is just throwing them a lifesaver instead of giving them a battleship.

It’s good money thrown after bad.

IIRC there are ~4,000 or so just laying around Sierra Army Depot. Were any of those sent or just the upgraded few?

Tanks are as obsolete today as battleships were in 1942. Just like during WW II, air superiority will dominate like never before.

My Mother was one of the designer/engineers for that Tank.

She worked out of TACOM, in Warren, Michigan.
She received a lot of awards and citations for her work.

So a few years ago on her 80th. birthday I started asking her a few questions about the Abrams tank and her work.

She wouldn’t say a thing about it!! 😆😂🤣 She said its all classified and top secret.
I said, “Mom, the tank has been out there now. People use it and other countries have them too.”

My Mother replied: “Well no one told me I can talk about now so I don’t care.”

She wasn’t budging. 😆

Three points.

1. I won’t be until summer at the earliest that these tanks could get into the field in the Ukraine.

2. Who will be running the tanks?

3. Will these tanks fall into the hands of the Russians should the Ukraine lose the war?

Biden is not giving them tanks. They will not arrive for a year and the war will be over by then.
