I am also female and just retired from a job in IT. In my 22 yrs of IT being a career, which I took VERY seriously, I can probably only name THREE good women IT workers but I can name many, many BAD ones. Most of the true wizards were male. The standard male IT worker I would say would be mediocre.
The vast majority of women IT workers were OBVIOUSLY affirmative action hires. And it showed!
Unqualified affirmative action hires in any business are very easy to spot—usually take less than five minutes.
All it takes is one question where they don’t have the scripted answer—and watch what happens next.
