MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A woman says she tried to warn the Memphis Police Department about an officer now charged in the death of Tyre Nichols.

Kadejah Townes said she was at the Walgreens on Knight Arnold on February 21, 2021, when Memphis police got a false shooting call.

“We were returning a Redbox and getting another Redbox,” she said.

Townes said they were about to leave when a male officer approached her asking if she heard gunfire.

“I told him no. He told us we could go ahead and leave,” she said.

She put the car into reverse when she said a female officer then stopped her. Her aunt hit record on her cell phone.

Patrina Finley shared this video with WREG.

“She wouldn’t tell me what I did,” Townes said. “She proceeded to stick her hand in my car, unlock my door, and kind of arm-wrestled me.”

Two male officers each grabbed one of her arms and put her into handcuffs.

“I’m crying out you dislocated my shoulder. He keeps saying, ‘Stop resisting. Stop resisting.’ I’m not resisting. I’m trying to tell you. You can look at the video. My hands are behind my back,” Townes said.

Officers then approached her aunt, and the video ends.

Townes says officers put her into a squad car. She says she demanded they take her to the emergency room for her shoulder pain. Her family followed the squad car, so the officer then pulled over and got out.

“And drew her gun at my brother and my aunt,” Townes said.

Townes said they took her aunt into custody and her to the hospital. She then went to jail, but she said she wasn’t charged with anything.

She forgot to mention that they were swearing like drunken pirates the whole time.

Is swearing a crime? Is laughing in your car a crime?

According to God’s Word, it’s unholy. The Bible says flat out not to use foul language. To do so is rejecting God in several ways. Christ is our Bridegroom we’re supposed to get ready for, if we really want to be married to Him. We’ll make sure we’re ready if we want to please Him.

Hm, rereading your post, I now think you were talking about the woman abused by the police. I was thinking you were referring to the police as they were swearing that way in the videos of Tyre Nichols’ death,

Police should display a higher standard than crack addicts, in my opinion. Crack addicts is what they sounded like in that video when they were murdering that guy in the street.

“According to God’s Word, it’s unholy.”

Yeah, well, we don’t empower cops to go around enforcing God’s Word at gunpoint.

Have you ever considered that might be an improvement over what’s being enforced today? The government is doing everything short of putting a gun to the heads of our kids today to convince them that they were born with the wrong genitals.

Yeah - and the ‘training’ thing is a joke too. How many times have check out girls in grocery stores been ‘trained’ not to murder customers?

With normal people we expect them to know ‘murder’ is NOT part of the job.

It’s democrat crazies that have to be told...

The female officer, Alexis Brown, said while investigating the shooting call, she saw Townes “laughing” in her car, so she “initiated the traffic stop.” She said Townes became “verbally and passively resistant.”

She said she put Townes into her squad car for “investigative detention.” She also claimed she found marijuana in the car but “disposed” of it.

Ooh, laughing, was she? And cursing because she was pulled over for laughing? Bad one there.

That might work until they encounter someone who believes in a different version of God’s Word. See Ireland and the Troubles.

This is why religion needs to be *not* a factor in law enforcement.

“Have you ever considered that might be an improvement over what’s being enforced today?”

No, I think it would most definitely be worse, because that would just drive more people away from God. The last thing God needs is an endorsement from the filthy, thieving, blood drenched hands of a human government.

Jesus Himself pointed out that religion and government should not mix - “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s, render unto God that which is God’s,” as I recall.

Yes, but I think the point Jesus was making was more on the order of what a person’s duties were, both to God and to man. The Pharisee tried to trick him into saying they shouldn’t pay tribute to Rome because it was against their religious customs. But Jesus pointed out that they were carrying around actual Roman currency, so they had to follow Roman rules instead.

I don’t think Jesus was above making multiple points in His statements. What you say is of course true but when taken with other points in the New Testament, such as the fact that Jesus enjoins His followers to avoid formally governed religious activity in verses such as Matthew 18:20 plus the railing against the Jewish religious government of the day... I am reasonably certain that Jesus was a fan of the separation of church and state.

Political power and religious faith are separate things, but they can coexist to a degree. Jesus never wanted political power, however. If it doesn’t serve some purpose, then it corrupts. History has plenty examples of that.
