In light of that, I don’t think it was wise of Biden ( what’s new?) to have Tyre’s parents at the SOTU. It seems prejudicial, along the lines of Obama’s “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

Doubt it. There is a difference between being a knowing accomplice and MAYBE having rendered insufficient care. And arresting someone is not an inherently deadly behavior.
