FOREIGNER bassist Jeff Pilson says that there is a "very, very simple" reason his band has not yet been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Artists are eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single. Criteria for inclusion includes "the influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll."

You’re just a Dirty White Boy.
> My question is...why is Steve Miller Band actually in the rock hall of fame? Sophomoric lyrics sung to repetitive music.
oh my... great live performances that go on for hours in overtime? famously tight musicianship? catchy tunes? multiple hits? staying power in the industry?
:)
“I saw them in the Meadowlands with Bryan Adams in ‘83 and they kicked ass!”
I saw them on that tour too, in Fort Myers. Great show!
The key to understanding the Steve Miller Band being in the rock hall of fame is the intros to their songs. Several are among the best in R & R, the rest of their stuff is marginal at best, once they settle into a 3 chord rhythm and boring lyrics it’s over, but everybody’s stoned by then so it doesn’t matter.
Unlike renowned non-commercial indie acts like Madonna, Abba, Donna Summer, and Chicago, all inductees.

I'm a fan of Steve Miller Band, but "Abracadabra" should have disqualified them.
Steve Miller, 15-30 seconds of great, then their music drops becomes poor to middlin.
If Cher and Styx are deserving of being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame so does Toni Tennille and Daryl Dragon.
Hometown bias here because Toni lives a few miles from me in Prescott AZ. Daryl was also a Prescott resident until he passed away.
There's no such thing as a real "Hall of Fame" for music. The only place that matters is between one's ears.
Until Little Feat is voted in, the Hall of Fame is insufficient.
Alvin Lee?
Tons of others too.
Tons of others too.
I'm a big Yes, Gentle Giant, King Crimson fan, but also a former big band guitarist and fusion band player. Frank Zappa to Wes Montgomery, Dave Brubeck to Miles Davis, to Muddy Waters and Jeff Healey. I'm a big fan of music of many types, not listing anything classical here for brevity.
I'm not a fan of things like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because all music is judged and competes with time in it's own way. Whether that's a time signature or an era of it's popularity.
I truly appreciate both Styx and Foreigner's contributions to the universe of popular music we have to enjoy. The times I've fallen asleep or wakened to tunes by either are good times. And that's really what it's all about.
Foreigner had one good Rock album, their first. the rest was, meh, boring and all sounded the same. Styx hit some good songs, but, meh, repetitive. Either is way more qualified than some of the absolutely anti-R&R the HOF has inducted the last 15 years. A joke, or as the Sex Pistols said when in 2006 were inducted but refused to attend, calling it a “piss stain”. They were right.
BTW, the current 6 member version of the band “Foreigner” making a living on the small arena and casino circuit has ONE original member. Not even a real band anymore.
Anyone who supports Cindi Lauper going into something called the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" before Styx has no sense or taste of what Rock and Roll even is.
Come Sail Away was not only a truly groundbreaking song in its day, it's still literally one of the greatest songs of all time.
There are many other bands that deserve recognition far before Cindi Lauper. The whole Rock and Roll HOF institution is a sick joke at this point.
No, Nuge, a crime if true.
back when i grew up there were 3 male role models in our part of town.
Ronald Reagan
Evel Kneivel
Ted Nugent
The Partridge family can serve as their court jesters.
