When tomatoes are in season, there are up to 23 varieties in Oaxaca, said rising star chef Thalía Barrios García in an episode of the CNN Original Series "Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico."
García has made this hometown ingredient the star of one of her signature dishes. You can find García's delicious cuisine at her hip restaurants, La Cocina de Humo and Levadura de Olla, in Oaxaca City.
Her Oaxacan-style heirloom tomato salad features an array of fresh, juicy tomatoes native to the region atop a beet puree. A drizzling of wild mint vinaigrette completes the dish. "Look at this! Is that not the most beautiful combination of tomatoes you've ever seen?" Eva Longoria said as she looked at the dish when visiting Barrios García for the docuseries.

In other news, her brother from another mother signed a 1-year deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks; he will get to play against his original team the Tampa Bay Rays in Phoenix around the end of June.

"El, you really must try this because it's puerco pibil. It's a slow-roasted pork, nothing fancy. It just happens to be my favorite, and I order it with a tequila and lime in every dive I go to in this country. And honestly, that is the best it's ever been anywhere. In fact, it's too good. It's so good that when I'm finished, I'll pay my check, walk straight into the kitchen and shoot the cook. Because that's what I do. I restore the balance to this country."

I got to see Evan all the years he was with the Rays; he was the face of the team for a decade, until he went to San Fran. The Evan/Eva non-connection was a standing joke here.
It’s the nature of the Rays to have players for a few years before they move on, but he was different, and now we have Wander Franco who won’t be wandering; signed up until 2030 I think.

She's from Corpus, not Mexico. She didn't even speak spanish growing up, which is not uncommon.

When was that taken? 20 years ago? This one is from 2021:
She was born in 1975 so 48 +/-. Carries the years quite nicely.

Gratuitous “Once upon a time in Mexico” quote. I love it. I do that with burgers in San Antonio. My wife thinks I am crazy when I quote that line. I’m going to pay the check, go into the kitchen and kill the 17 YO who reheated my burger.
