Right! Good flick though my favorite part of the movie was Moroder's soundtrack, especially the piece called "The Chase". I think Art Bell used it as his intro music for the longest time.

I read the book, saw the movie and read an interview with the real life guy who's depicted. His real life situation was not nearly as bad as the drama depicted. And, in the end, he escaped by simply walking across the border.

And the guard he killed. He didn't kill anybody, but the guard was killed on the outside by another ex con.
