Pink Floyd..... I listened to their early albums such as Umma Gumma and Obscured By Clouds. Obscured was the soundtrack to some movie done in Greece about heroin addicts. I thought they were OK. Umma Gumma was a double album, with lush photographs of the band doing yoga postures on the green grass outdoors.
But really there are only three Floyd tunes that kinda grab me. Same as with Bruce Springsteen. Stones, Doors, Led Zepplin, Animals did it for me. Not these PF clowns. Fleetwood Mac has more poppy and happy tunes. Most from Christine McVie.
Led Zeppelin is in my DNA. I love Presence- not as much as Physical Graffiti or Zeppelin III- but I LOVE Presence!!!
Many may disagree but if you talk do longtime, diehard Zeppelin fans they will tell you Presence is one of the groups best albums. Its also one of Page’s favorites.
From the start with the mighty Achilles Last Stand, to the finish- Tea For One, a latter day Since I’ve Been Loving you, the album is amazing. Hots on for Nowhere is the only “meh” pop song, but even that tune has its moments
Kind of like how I think “Powerage” is AC/DCs best album, although there aren’t any songs that get played on the radio from it.
But “Riff Raff” is one of the greatest riffs ever.
Waters is an avowed atheist.
The Wall is semi-autobiographical.
Both waters and the protagonist in The Wall lose their father in WWII. Waters is literally the baby crying in tract 2 side 1.
Waters blames “the Jews” for the loss of his father. He’s very much clear on that.
As he has no spiritual foundation, hate has further fed this idea and insanity.
It’s a terrible shame because he was a truly gifted artist.
Joe Bonamassa does a killer Tea for One cover. I think TFO is way better than SIBLY- sort of like grape juice becoming wine.
he’s not wrong.
Gilmour has way more talent than Waters could even dream of.
"Don't give me that do-goody-good bullshit."
Roger Waters and his band were purged from my playlist a decade ago. He is as whacked at Cat Stevens.
It is sad, from what I understand his position on things like his daddy issues and antisemitism and ego has song writer led to breakup of Floyd. Always appreciated the song writing but the music is what always grabbed me and Gilmore more than proved himself as songwriter in his own right
One lyric always struck me “ if your taking your girlfriend out tonight you better park your car well out of sight cause if the catch you in the back seat trying to pick her locks their gonna send you home to mama in a cardboard box, you better run”
I was watching YouTube and a thing called reaction videos popped up and it was on comfortably numb, the reaction was pretty cool nice to see older people have such an emotional response to the song esp gilmores solos. First comment I read was from a guy telling his girlfriend as they are listening to the song paraphrasing. This is the second best guitar solo she asks what’s the best he says wait a minute
Watching people being blown away by a five minute guitar solo was cool another person said most plug their guitars into an amp Gilmore plugs his into his soul
Frankly I have never missed rogers and he seems like a very sad and empty man.
I imagine you are correct but would like your thoughts on this
Read a while back that demographically the Arab/Muslim populations in Israel are out producing the Jewish population by a significant factor and over time they will outnumber the Jewish population add to that the self loathing leftist Jewish citizens could Israel as a Jewish state be birthed out of existence?
