According to the findings of randomized controlled trials, blood lipid levels in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) can be significantly decreased through a combination of pitavastatin and ezetimibe; however, the effects and clinical applications of this treatment remain controversial. An article objectively assesses the efficacy and safety of pitavastatin and ezetimibe in lowering blood lipid levels.
Relevant studies were retrieved from electronic databases. The levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients' serum after treatment were the primary endpoint.
Nine randomized controlled trials (2586 patients) met the inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis indicated that pitavastatin plus ezetimibe resulted in significantly lower levels of LDL-C [standardized mean difference (SMD)=−0.86, 95% confidence interval (CI) (−1.15 to −0.58), P<0.01], TC [SMD=−0.84, 95% CI (−1.10 to −0.59), P<0.01], and TG [SMD=−0.59, 95% CI (−0.89 to −0.28), P<0.01] than pitavastatin alone.
Pitavastatin plus ezetimibe significantly decreased serum LDL-C, TC, and TG levels in patients with CHD.

Do note there are side effects with these that are not there with diet and exercise.

Stop eating stupid things.
I had a hypertension issue a couple of months ago. The doctor said it may not be the highest his ever seen but I made his top 10.
So, I stopped eating wheat and sugar. Exercised a little more. It was not hard.
Noticeable changes immediately.
I just don’t eat anything mass produced or with a list of chemical ingredients. My primary diet is meat and potatoes. (although I don’t shy away from all fruits and veggies)
Things I’ve noticed:
Dropping weight
More energy
My stomach is deflating like a balloon.
The ‘puffiness’ I felt in my feet went away (I’m told this is a sign of pending diabetes)
No more joint pain. It’s so noticeable that if I eat anything with wheat I can barely walk the next day. Instant inflammation
No more heartburn.
NO MORE HUNGER!!!
Stopping wheat was the biggest factor. It’s hard at first because you are hungry all the time- because the wheat clogs up everything so you are not getting any nutrients from your food, so you eat more and more. Now, I sometimes forget if I’ve eaten all day.
A couple of eggs in the morning (simply hard boiled) is great for killing your appetite all day.
I can eat potato chips, chicken wings, cheese... it’s not a hard diet to maintain. Olive oil is my preferred choice to use and NO MARGARINE.
“The levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients’ serum after treatment were the primary endpoint.”
there’s big pharma treating numbers again ... gotta love the fact that the study end-points don’t include functional data such as absolute reduction in overall mortality, absolute reduction in overall cardiovascular disease, or absolute reduction in cerebral infarct ...
but hey, we can get some numbers to change, whether that means anything or not other than possibly our stock price ...
come to think of it, how long will it be before the stock price itself becomes the endpoint to a drug study? really, why not test for what really matter? get right to the bottom of things?
I thought the Ancel Keys research was debunked years ago.
Why don’t these studies ever tell about how lowering these levels increases quality of life or extends life?
Last I heard, they do neither (at least no in a statistically relevant way) - but the drugs do have side-effects.
