State income tax makes a bigger dent in after tax income than difference in property tax. If property tax in Texas is $2500, and tax in another state is $2000 but you have to pay $3000 in state income tax, which is better?

I have lived in IL, IA, WA, CA. FL.
FL has lowest taxes. My house is worth $350k om market, and my prop tax is $2200. Sales tax 6.5%. annual car stickers $30. Electric bill $55/month averaged over 12 months, but water & sewer is not cheaper than previous states.

I understand that Texas may be lower than where they are but that doesn’t make Texas taxes low, that’s my point.

Our property taxes keep skyrocketing.

I’m of the camp that believes we can’t continue to cheerlead and brag about our state, without facing the major issues we are developing that bears discussion.

It’s going to take more than a can of paint to pretty it up.

Ostrich method kills.
