“I hear they make for pretty good stew. I’ve only had raccoons and porcupines and marmots.. oh I forgot, chicken fried nutria (when in Louisiana eat like you live there).”
I have heard that possums, beaver and groundhogs are kind of greasy.
If the crop is especially large I have been known to harvest chicken of the tree and make authentic Brunswick stew.
I have read that mountain men thoroughly enjoyed mountain lion meat, cougar, jaguar, American big cats in general. I found that interesting but I have never had the opportunity.
I’ve had Groundhog friends. I used to feed them outside of my workplace.
They have beautiful eyes...
Groundhog/marmot something. My uncle hunted puma/mountain lions in West Texas/ /New Mexico. White meat, like pork. Ted Nugent says it’s delicious.
Groundhog/marmot same critter. Brbq with hickory
Brunswick Stew! Georgia friend’s granny made it out of squirrel and rabbit. Hard to find in East Texas. Can’t even get boiled peanuts.
